Since it’s inception, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) has been an integral event in the Ghana Music Industry as it stands out as the most prestigious award ceremony in the country. In the history of the VGMA, the ace rapper and Hip-life artiste Micheal Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie is the most decorated VGMA artiste with 49 nominations and 21 awards to his credit.
His “Makye” debut album won him a record of five awards including ‘Artiste of the year’ in 2010. In the just ended 19th edition of the VGMA he picked up the “Hip Hop/ Hip Life artiste and Best rapper of the year awards”. Aside the VGMA’s, the King of Rap in Ghana is now ‘The Highest’, has to his credit several nominations and awards both locally and internationally.
These incredible achievements have made the “pain killer” hitmaker a force to reckon with within the music industry not just in Ghana but all over the world with his Rapperholic skills, Punch Lines and ability to adapt to modern entertainment trends.
